Patients and community members visiting Northwestern Medical Center last week admired the newly-opened front lobby and entrance, as visitors were once again allowed to access the main building through the front doors starting on December 21.

The new lobby features a space for a Valet Service that is under development, as well as a new Gift Gallery, Security office, Concierge office and four new bathrooms. The space features stonework and hardwood details that already make the lobby a popular place for visitors to pass their time while waiting at the hospital.

The opening of the main entrance is the first such opening in a series of milestones for NMC’s Master Facility Plan construction. In March, the expansion of the inpatient wing will open, offering private rooms for all patients. In April, the Medical Clinics building opens and the largest new building – the Medical Office Building – opens in early summer.

NMC is thankful for the patience of the community as the navigation around campus changed considerably through the fall and early winter. Now all roadways around campus are open to two way traffic and visitors will find driving and parking more convenient.

• Outpatient Lab Still at Doctors Office Commons: Patients needing bloodwork should visit the Outpatient Lab at the #1 suite of Doctors Office Commons.
• Northwestern Cardiology and Pulmonology Still at Doctors Office Commons: Both these practice remain in the #10 suite of Doctors Office Commons.
