Roadway Work to Begin Soon on Medical Office Building
NMC will begin construction on a new roadway in front of the two-story Medical office building in early September. The change to the layout of the road and parking area came after the initial construction steps revealed that further improvements could be made.
The new design includes a two-way road and preserves the drop-off lane under the canopy and adjacent handicapped parking, which serves both the Medical Office Building and the hospital main entrance. This is an improvement over the initial design that included only one way traffic in front of the MOB, from Crest Road toward the hospital main entrance.
The work requires building a retaining wall between the upper parking lot near the new building and the lower parking lot near Fairfield Street. At times during the construction, patient and visitor parking in the area nearest to the new retaining wall will be limited. The parking impacts will be kept as minimal as possible to preserve easy access to the main hospital entrance.
Patients and visitors who park near Doctors Office Commons or elsewhere around campus are encouraged to use the Veterans Sponsored Valet – a free service offering pickups at your parking spot and transportation to your campus destination.
