NMC Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer

Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce that Michelle Buck, DPN, RN, FACHE will be joining NMC as our new Chief Nursing Officer.

Michelle has experience at both large and small hospitals in rural environments, most recently leading at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as the Vice President of Inpatient Nursing. She brings 28 years of experience in nursing with expertise in resource allocation, operations, capacity management, nursing shared governance, nursing practice, and patient flow.

Together, we will continue to build on the great work at Northwestern Medical Center by supporting our nurses in their professional journeys and providing exceptional care to our community.” said Michelle Buck, DPN, RN, FACHE.

Dr. Buck received her DNP in Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University in Arizona as well as Master’s of Science in Nursing. She was born and raised in Maine and enjoys the outdoors, yoga, meditation, and spending time with her grandchildren.

“I’m so excited to have Michelle join the NMC team. I believe her knowledge, experience and leadership style are exactly what NMC needs and has been looking for to drive exceptional care and high reliability,” said Peter J. Wright, FACHE, NMC’s President & Chief Executive Officer. “Michelle is both a ‘nurses nurse’ and exceptional leader who values excellence, relationships and making the lives of those providing care easier. I know her voice will carry strongly at the bedside and the senior leadership table.”

Michelle starts work at NMC on Monday, July 22.

Wright added, “I’d also like to recognize and offer my special thanks to Anneke Merritt for serving as NMC’s Interim Chief Nursing Officer while maintaining her Director of Quality role, and to all the NMC team members who showed patience through a lengthy and thorough search process.”
