Laurie Austin, PT
Laurie was born and raised in Franklin County,VT. She received her Physical Therapy degree at UVM in 1983. She began working as a Physical Therapist at NMC in 1983 and has vast experience in treating all age groups. She developed NMC’s work rehab program in 1998, working as an Industrial Rehab Therapist for 14 years treating injured workers and working with local businesses on ergonomic issues to improve worker safety. She currently works as an outpatient therapist treating patients of all ages and diagnoses. She is skilled and knowledgeable in treating orthopedic injuries, wound care and management, neurological conditions, balance disorders and enjoys working with the elderly. Laurie is lymphedema certified and applies her knowledge to her orthopedic patient population. She takes pride in educating her patients in ways to independently manage their conditions after PT treatment to maximize outcome and function and provide a quality of life that yields gratification in their personal lives.
Outside of work Laurie enjoys, nature hikes and exploration, cooking, gardening, learning to play the guitar, sudoku puzzles and reading.
